SEOUL, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Slovenia's Janja Garnbret captured her third lead world title on Friday at the 2025 IFSC Climbing World Championships, while Lee Do-hyun lit up the home crowd with the men's gold.

Despite almost slipped mid clipping, Garnbret managed to save it and became the only climber to top the women's final route, securing her third lead world title following Hachioji in 2019 and Paris in 2016.

Her compatriot Rosa Rekar earned silver with hold 45, while South Korea's Seo Chae-hyun took bronze with hold 44+.

"This gold medal means so much to me, especially after the pressure of last year's Olympic season, when I doubted whether I could handle another competition," Garnbret said.

"This time my body was ready, my mind was calm, and everything came naturally. I'm thrilled to be world champion again," she added.

Garnbret has also set an eye on the boulder gold, saying: "Today there is no time to celebrate. I'll do that after tomorrow. The excitement is super high and I'm excited to get on the boulder wall tomorrow and do my best. I hope I will be able to sleep tonight as I will be buzzing in my bed, but I'm looking forward to tomorrows comp."

On the men's side, no climber topped the route. Lee edged Japan's Satone Yoshida for his first-ever world title after both climbed to hold 43+, with Lee's higher semifinal mark serving as the tiebreaker. Japan's Taisei Homma placed third with 42+.

In the semifinals, China's Pan Yufei finished 16th in the men's event, while Zhang Yue Tong and Luo Zhilu placed 11th and 19th in the women's event, respectively, all failed to advance.

The semifinal and final of the women's boulder will take place on Saturday, with the men's event scheduled for Sunday.
