BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Solving global challenges -- such as the climate crisis, technological divide, and public health issues -- is absolutely beyond the competence of any single country or civilization and requires all countries to work together with openness and inclusiveness, a think tank report said on Saturday.
The report, titled "Theory on the Development of Civilizations -- Building a New Vision of Civilizations with Development at the Core," was released by Xinhua Institute, a national high-level think tank of Xinhua News Agency.
Openness and inclusiveness are inexhaustible drivers of civilizational development whereas closure and exclusiveness inevitably lead to stagnation and decline, the report said.
All forms of enclosed and exclusive "blocs," no matter how they are packaged, are invariably shackles that restrict the flow of ideas, the allocation of resources, and common progress, it noted.
According to the report, only by resolutely dismantling barriers, embracing the world, engaging in mutual learning, and letting the drivers of development flow freely, integrate, and blend in an open and inclusive environment can the creativity and vitality of civilizations be thereby continuously unleashed, continuing to guide human civilization toward a more prosperous and advanced future. ■
